Charles Moore was appointed as the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia in January 2021. He is a career diplomat, having joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1982, serving in overseas postings to Zimbabwe, Oman, Botswana, Indonesia, Switzerland, Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, and South Sudan.
In the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, he has served as Parliamentary Clerk, and has worked on a range of diverse issues including Hong Kong, resource management, national security, the Korean Peninsula, Child Sexual Abuse, and Knowledge & Technology.
In 2010, he joined the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), where he built a team of 600 staff and volunteers to coordinate attendance at the London 2012 Games by over 120 Heads of State and Government, and 500 UK Dignitaries.
Charles then led the FCO contribution to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he was also the official HMG Liaison Officer for the Prime Minister and other UK Ministers.
In 2014/15, he was interim British High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, returning to the Caribbean in October 2017 to coordinate UK reparation activities in the Turks & Caicos Islands, and then Anguilla, following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Prior to his current posting to Windhoek, he was the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Juba, South Sudan.
